AND HELP US FINISH STRONG BY JUNE 30.
In July 2019, the Computer History Museum launched Power On: Decoding the Past, Igniting the Future, a comprehensive campaign to strengthen the Museum for the long term and expand how we collect, interpret, and share the history of computing and its impact on the world to inspire the next generation who will lead our future. Since then, an extraordinary community of supporters has come together to invest in CHM’s future – raising more than $100 million to advance the Museum’s mission and ensure its continued leadership at a pivotal moment in technological history.
As part of the campaign, generous supporters have also documented more than $20 million in future planned gift commitments, helping to build a sustainable institution that will serve generations to come.
Already, the impact of Power On is unmistakable. Gifts to the campaign are transforming how people around the world engage with the history of technology—opening the Museum’s unparalleled collection to global audiences online, creating new permanent and rotating galleries, and accelerating the digitization of some of the most important corporate and personal archives in computing history.
We are deeply grateful to the donors whose generosity has made this progress possible. A complete list of those who have supported the Power On Campaign appears further down this page.
The transformational achievements below reflect what visionary philanthropy makes possible – and point toward what comes next as we continue powering the future of the Computer History Museum.
As the campaign enters its final phase ending June 30, 2026, you have a unique opportunity to help shape what comes next. Gifts made towards the campaign will ensure this impact doesn’t stop here, and will help turn this momentum into long‑term change.
Every technological breakthrough begins with a team bold enough to imagine new solutions and driven enough to make them a reality. This spirit of risk taking and invention propels Silicon Valley and is the foundation of the Computer History Museum’s mission to decode technology—its computing past, digital present, and future impact on humanity.
At CHM, we believe invention is not only about the technology, but about the dreamers, builders, and risk-takers who asked “What if?” and changed the world—how we live, work, communicate, and learn. And we honor the full ecosystem that made these breakthroughs possible, including the engineers, entrepreneurs, designers, and hidden figures.
For more than 40 years, the Computer History Museum has captured the technologies and entrepreneurial visions of the builders of the digital age. And now as we enter an extraordinary moment in history driven by AI, CHM will act with urgency to capture these new stories, preserve the breakthroughs of today, and share them at scale to inform the innovators of tomorrow.
CHM not only sees the changes in technology, we raise the critical questions about how it gets implemented, who benefits, and where the crossroads might lead. Located at the literal center of Silicon Valley, we are a forum for researchers, business leaders, policy makers, and the public to convene and deeply engage—all with the goal of creating informed digital citizens who can help shape our future.
At its core, CHM is an institution that makes sense of a rapidly changing world, transforms history into insight, and educates and inspires the next generation of innovators, thinkers, and creators. We invite you to join us as we rise to meet the needs of this defining moment in technological history. With your partnership, we will decode the past, illuminate the present, and ignite the future.
Honoring Bernard Goldstein’s Legacy
Campaign Committee member Partricia Goldstein supports CHM’s work to honor her husband, Bernard, whose mission was to create lasting change through technology. By supporting the Museum’s work, she wants to ensure he’s recognized not just as an entrepreneur but also because he wanted the community to benefit.
Supporting Long-Term Sustainability
CHM Trustee Chris Wanstrath understands that long-term sustainability is critical if the Museum is to continue to decode technology through exhibits, tours and demonstrations, free public programs, and online access to its collections for generations to come.
This listing recognizes the generosity of donors who made gifts to the Museum between July 1, 2019 and April 20, 2026. As part of the Power On campaign, all contributions during this period counted toward the campaign. We are deeply grateful to every supporter whose commitment helped build the foundation for this effort.
