Celebrating Tech for Humanity

Honoring Luminary, Sal Khan and Changemakers, Mercy Nyamewaa Asiedu and Michael Bernstein

CHM’s Patrick J. McGovern Tech for Humanity Prize will be awarded to remarkable people who are creating a better future by using technology to address the grand challenges of our digital age.

Prize Luminary:

  • Sal Khan, for his extraordinary impact expanding access to learning worldwide using technology.

Prize Changemakers:

Here’s What You’ll Experience:

  • A festive celebration featuring dinner and live music.
  • Prize presentations by tech entrepreneur Diane Greene, AI leader Fei-Fei Li, and futurist Paul Saffo, plus remarks by our prize recipients Sal Khan, Mercy Nyamewaa Asiedu, and Michael Bernstein.
  • Insights into our prize recipients’ work and impact through original short film documentaries, stories, and tributes by special guests, including: tech leader and philanthropist Bill Gates (by video); Sultana, an Afghan girl without access to a school who is now a quantum algorithm researcher; and, Jason, incarcerated for more than a decade and now a graduating senior in computer science at Stanford. Sultana and Jason will share their stories of gaining an education through Khan Academy.
  • Opportunities to interact with prize recipients and members of the tech-for-good community at a VIP reception and post-event dessert buffet.

Chosen by a prestigious selection committee, the prize recognizes individuals who are creating a better future for humanity through technology. With support from the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, it honors Pat McGovern, an early affiliate of the Museum who was an IT visionary, successful entrepreneur, technology journalism pioneer, and humanitarian.
