Dr. Nambirajan Seshadri serves as Broadcom's Sr. Vice President and CTO for the Broadband & Connectivity group. Seshadri joined Broadcom in 1999 as the first employee dedicated to developing the company’s wireless strategy, which initially began with wireless connectivity products. Since then, he has helped to drive Broadcom’s entry into low power Wi-Fi for handsets, combo chips that integrate multiple wireless connectivity technologies and GPS and grow the intellectual property portfolio in wireless.
He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, an IEEE Fellow, a Distinguished Alumnus of the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli and holds more than 200 patents.
Prior to joining Broadcom Corporation, he was with AT&T Labs and Bell Labs where he and his colleagues made a number of pioneering contributions to cellular including error control coding, link layer protocols, and invention of space-time coding, all of which have been rapidly adopted in cellular and 802.11 as a means of providing increased robustness and higher data throughput. He was a co-recipient of the 1999 IEEE Information Theory Society Best Paper Award. His publication on space-time codes was chosen by IEEE Communications Society as one of the 50 most influential papers published in the past 50 years as of 2003.
Seshadri earned a B.E. degree in Electronics and Communications from Regional Engineering College (now called NITT), Tiruchirapalli, India, and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York.
