Mike Murray is chairman and co-founder of Unitus, a social innovator that accelerates microfinance programs in developing countries. In addition he is the managing partner of Crystal Springs Foundation (CSF), his family foundation that provides capital and management support to projects that create permanent improvements in people's lives.
Mike spent nearly 20 years in the computer industry in a variety of leadership positions. In the early 1980s he led the start-up marketing activities of Apple Computer's Macintosh product line. In this role he reported directly to Steve Jobs, Apple co-founder. In the mid-80's he was involved in mergers and acquisitions and was president of a computer systems company in Connecticut. He went to Microsoft in 1989 to manage that company's networking software business. Within a few years he became Microsoft's first Vice President of Human Resources and Administration, a position he held until his departure in 1999.
Mike holds an engineering degree and an MBA, both from Stanford University. In addition to the above activities, he sits on the non-profit boards of ACCION International (www.accion.org) and Steve Young's Forever Young Foundation (www.foreveryoung.org). He is also an active member of the Synergos Global Philanthropy Circle (www.wynergos.org/gpcparlor/). In the for-profit sector, he is a board member of Amaze Entertainment (www.amazeent.com) and an advisor to Cranium (www.cranium.com).
The Murrays have four grown children and live on a farm outside of Redmond, Washington where they make apple cider and raise Wagyu cattle.
