Ken Oshman

Mr. Oshman Joined Echelon in 1988. With three associates, Mr. Oshman founded Rolm Corporation in 1969 and served as chief executive officer, president, and director until Rolm was acquired by IBM in 1984. He then served as a vice president of IBM until 1986. Previously, he was a member of the technical staff of Sylvania Electric Products, Inc., involved in developing nonlinear optical technologies and systems.

Mr. Oshman earned his BA and BS degrees from Rice University and MS and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University. He has served as Chairman of the Board of the Stanford Alumni Association and as a member of the Board of Governors at Rice University. He has been Chairman of the American Electronics Association, the Santa Clara County Manufacturing Group and the Community Foundation of Silicon Valley.

Mr. Oshman is a director of Sun Microsystems, and Knight-Ridder, Inc. He has been a director of a number of other private and public companies including StrataCom, Varian Associates, ASK Computer Systems, Charles Schwab & Co., IBM World Trade Europe/Middle East/Africa Corporation, and Snap/Track, Inc. The recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Rice University and a member of the National Academy of Engineering, he is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Xi, Sigma Tau, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
