Hector A. Terrero

As a first generation college student having migrated from the Dominican Republican at the age of 11, Hector has grown to be a primary advocate for under-represented students in need of mentorship and guidance. With over 8 years of mentorship experience, he spent the majority of his college career providing leadership coaching to K-12 students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. As a founder and sponsor of Big Minds Experience Program, he leveraged his engineering experience and network to expose college students to entrepreneurship and leadership in addition to flying such mentioned students to Silicon Valley for corporate tours of the big tech companies.

Hector recently received the Estrella award from the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Silicon Valley chapter for his outstanding contributions and support of the MentorSHPE program, where professional Latino engineers from the Bay Area are paired with college students throughout the Santa Clara Valley for a year long mentoring program. As an Operations Engineering Program Manger for Apple, Hector uses his position to bring awareness of diversity recruiting and to create placement for Latinos in Tech and Silicon Valley. Additionally, he serves in the Executive Board of Amigos@Apple, a Diversity Network Associate at Apple which caters to the Hispanic/Latino community within the Company. As a board member for Amigos@Apple, Hector partners with non-profit organizations within the Bay Area to create opportunities for Apple employees to participate in community engagement and leverage Apple matching gift policy for donations towards non-profits.
