Francesca Rossi

Distinguished Research Scientist, IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center

Francesca Rossi is a distinguished research scientist at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center and a professor of computer science at the University of Padova, Italy, currently on leave. Her research interests focus on artificial intelligence, specifically collective decision-making and AI ethics. She has published over 170 scientific articles, has co-authored a book, and has edited 17 volumes. She is a fellow of the Association for the Advancement of AI (AAAI), the European Association for AI (EurAI), and Radcliffe College (2015). She has been president of the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) and an executive councillor of Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). She is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research (JAIR) and a member of the editorial board of Constraints, Artificial Intelligence, Annals of Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence (AMAI), and Knowledge and Information Systems (KAIS). She co-chairs the AAAI committee on AI and ethics and she is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Future of Life Institute. She is on the board of trustees for the Partnership on AI and belongs to the World Economic Forum Global Council on AI and robotics.
