David Frankel

David Frankel is the Founder and CEO of ZipDX LLC, an electronic
collaboration service provider business. Prior to that, he had an IT
consultancy providing business and technology services to investment
organizations and technology companies, specializing in VoIP, broadband, wireless and legacy telecom technologies. He is experienced in business case analysis, technology introduction, and service planning. In 1994, he founded Jetstream Communications, a venture-backed supplier of packet voice equipment for telecommunications carriers; that business was sold to Paradyne Corp. in 2002. Prior to that, he held engineering management positions in the supercomputer group at Control Data Corp., at Prisma Corp.,and at Tricord Systems.

David grew up in Urbana, Illinois, graduating from University High School in 1976 and from the University of Illinois in 1979, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. From 1973 through 1979, he worked at the University's Computer-based Education Research Lab as a student programmer on the PLATO system. He also spent two summers at Control Data in Minneapolis, working on their PLATO implementation.
