Brendan Foley

Research Specialist

After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire, Dr. Brendan Foley continued on to Tufts University where he received his MA in History. He then attended the University of Southampton where he received his MSc in Maritime Archaeology and then Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he received his PhD in the History and Archaeology of Ancient Technology. Dr. Foley is currently a research associate at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.

Dr. Foley specializes in archaeology in deep water, classical Greece, 19th century maritime history and naval engineering, and advanced technologies and methods for archaeology. Dr. Foley has 17 years experience in the field and has extensive experience with remote sensing and remotely operated vehicles.
