Ben Shneiderman is a professor of computer science at the University of Maryland where he specializes in human-computer interaction and design. His recent work has been in information visualization. Shneiderman has made many important contributions to computer science over a long career, including developing the idea of Nassi-Shneiderman diagrams, a graphical design representation for structured programming, and his Eight Golden Rules for Interface Design. He is a Fellow of the ACM, AAAS, IEEE and NAE.
