POSITION SUMMARY

Support the maintenance and operational needs of the Computer History Museum, while also facilitating the setup and coordination of events hosted at the museum. This position is approximately 60% Facilities Maintenance and 40% Event Support.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up/break down of staging, seating, and equipment for events at the Museum under the guidance of the Facilities Manager.
  • Maintain events rooms lighting and other equipment (projectors, screens, mics, wall plates and cabling).
  • Coordinate scheduling of facilities staff and resources as needed, including janitorial, contractor, or security assistance.
  • Serve as the liaison between event staff and facilities, ensuring smooth coordination and execution of internal and external client events.
  • Support the Events team with HVAC schedules, controls and security system operations (doors scheduling and building alarm).
  • Perform minor repair work, repairing doors, locks, door closures, handles, cleaning, and landscaping tasks to maintain the facility.
  • Monitor activities within the facility to ensure the safety of guests and protection of museum property.
  • Act as on-site staff for events, overseeing the building and assisting event staff as required, cover front of house as needed before 7 am.
  • Assist in warehouse-related duties, including forklift operation and maintenance repairs, at offsite collections storage facility.
  • Aid Museum Services Manager, administrative, events, and collections staff in receiving and warehousing incoming shipments.
  • Completes assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  • Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs of building and equipment as assigned.
  • Basic plumbing and electrical.
  • Keep power tool equipment organized, clean and in working condition.
  • Operates various electric, gas and manually powered tools and equipment, i.e., saws, sprayers, pressure washer, etc.
  • Correctly facilitate and submit all reports, documents and records as requested.
  • Execute short lead time projects.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 2+ years of experience.
  • Minimum education of HS diploma or GED certification.
  • Dependable with basic skills for general maintenance and repair of facilities; forklift training and certification preferred.
  • Team player with a clean appearance and ability to interact well with guests and clients.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, including frequent evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to engage in physical activity, handle items up to 75 pounds, and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to read and understand English.

Salary range: $60,000-$70,000 Annualized
