Michael Walker

Michael Walker is an independent consultant specializing in Java-based Internet/Intranet interfaces to large databases and decision support systems.

He was born and raised in Urbana, Illinois and graduated from Urbana High School and the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. Don Bitzer was the adviser for the high school's JETS (Junior Engineering Technical Society) chapter, which is where Michael met him. Starting in in high school, Michael worked at PLATO / CERL from 1963 until CERL was closed in 1994, the last 9 years as head of the system software staff. He then developed computer-based education projects for the Computer and Communications Services Office of the U of I until his retirement from the University of Illinois in 1998.
