Adrian Rice

Professor of Mathematics at Randolph-Macon College

Adrian Rice is a historian of mathematics, originally from the UK, and currently a professor of mathematics at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. He has published widely on mathematics in Victorian Britain, and especially on the life and work of Augustus De Morgan. In addition to lecturing across the United States and Great Britain, he has also delivered invited lectures in Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, and Portugal. He has been awarded prizes for his expository writing by the Mathematical Association of America on three separate occasions (in 2007, 2010, and 2013). His latest book (co-authored with Christopher Hollings and Ursula Martin) is Ada Lovelace: The Making of a Computer Scientist
