William H. Draper, III has over 30 years of experience as one of America's first venture capitalists. Mr. Draper is currently Managing Director of Draper Richards, a private venture capital company, and Draper International, a limited partnership that makes equity investments in private companies with operations in India. During his twenty years as the founder and senior partner of Sutter Hill Ventures, a leading venture capital firm in the U.S., Mr. Draper helped to organize and finance several hundred high technology manufacturing companies. He served from 1981 to 1986 as President and Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States. In 1986, he became the head of the world's largest source of multilateral development grant assistance, the United Nations Development Program. Mr. Draper is Chairman of World Affairs Council of Northern California, and serves on the boards of the Institute of International Education, Institute of International Studies at Stanford University, and Population Action International. He is a former Trustee of Yale University, and a member of both the Council on Foreign Relations and the President’s Council on International Activities at Yale University. Mr. Draper has also served as Director of several software and computer companies. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University, and a Master of Business degree, with distinction, from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
