Joe Hurd is a technology executive and strategic advisor and serves on a number of public and nonprofit boards. He is the operating partner at SOSV, a $1.4B early-stage venture fund, where he leads strategy and business development efforts for the fund’s life sciences, deep technology and consumer-facing mobile portfolio companies. He is also a venture partner for Good Growth Capital (a woman-led venture fund), non-executive director of Trustpilot and Hays, and advisor to numerous startups. In addition, Hurd is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, the American Bar Association, and the National Association of Corporate Directors. He built his business career leading business development, strategy, and sales teams at Facebook, Gannett, and AOL/TimeWarner. During President Obama’s first term (2009-2012), he served as a senior political appointee in the Commerce Department with an international trade policy portfolio.
