Bob Doran is an Emeritus Professor of Computer Science at the University of Auckland, in New Zealand, where he was Head of Department in the 1980s and 90s. Originally from New Zealand, he graduated from Stanford with an MS in Computer Science in 1967, and has taught at The City University London and Massey University in New Zealand as well as The University of Auckland. From 1976 to 1982 he was with Amdahl Corporation in Sunnyvale where he became a Principal Computer Architect. As well as computer functional architecture he has had a life-long interest in the History of Computing and, more recently, pre-computer totalisator equipment used in horse races.
