Bill Mooney led the I/O effort for the ACS project. Prior to ACS, Bill was a Program Manager for the IBM 1800 computer. He remained with IBM after the ACS project ended, and in 1975 he became the Microcode Manager for the Tape Mass Storage Subsystem (MSS) in Boulder, Colorado. In 1979 he worked with Phil Dauber and coordinated the opening of IBM's Tuscon, Arizona, facility.
In 1980, he was appointed Product Manager for the IBM 3880 DASD Subsystem Cache, and in 1985 became Product Manager of the IBM 3990 DASD Subsystem. In 1990, Bill left IBM but has remained in the Tuscon area.
