John Markoff is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who covered technology and business for The New York Times for nearly 30 years, from 1988 to 2016. He was the first journalist to write about the World Wide Web in a national publication. He has also written for many other publications, including the San Jose Mercury News, The Nation, Byte Magazine, Pacific News Service, and the San Francisco Examiner. A former CHM staff historian, Markoff is the author of six books about the technology industry, including his latest, Whole Earth: The Many Lives of Stewart Brand.
