Ira Chinoy

Author, Predicting the Winner; Associate Professor Emeritus, UMD College of Journalism

Ira Chinoy is an associate professor emeritus at the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism and is the recipient of three national teaching awards. Prior to that, he was a journalist for 24 years. At The Washington Post, Chinoy was on a team that won a Pulitzer Prize for reporting on the use of deadly force by police. At The Providence Journal, Chinoy was a member of a team that won a Pulitzer Prize for coverage of corruption in the courts. An honors graduate of Harvard College, he earned a PhD from the University of Maryland.
