Visitor Guidelines

Welcome to CHM

We’re delighted to have you join us in exploring the rich history of computing. To ensure a safe, enjoyable, and educational experience for all our guests, we ask that you follow these simple guidelines during your visit.

Admission and Payments

  • Tickets are final sale, non-refundable, and non-transferable.
  • We accept debit cards, credit cards, and digital payment apps at our Museum store and ticket counters. Cash is only accepted at the Cloud Bistro café.

Visitor Conduct

  • Please treat each other and our staff with respect. Profanity, rude, inconsiderate, or abusive behavior is not allowed.
  • Disruptive noise is prohibited. Please set electronic devices to silent mode to maintain a peaceful environment.
  • Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times in the Museum.
  • The use of all pens and any other writing/drawing/marking inked instruments that may be used to mark and/or deface CHM property is strictly prohibited in the exhibit areas. If making notes is necessary, please use a pencil.
  • Historical artifacts are priceless and easily damaged. Please do not touch them.

Accommodations and Accessibility

The Museum warmly welcomes all visitors and strives to provide a safe, comfortable, and inclusive environment. We fully comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and all other applicable accessibility laws.

Service animals are welcome in all public areas, provided they are on a leash and under control at all times. In accordance with the law, Museum staff may ask two specific questions when a service animal’s role is not apparent: (1) Is the animal a service animal required because of a disability? and (2) What work or task has the animal been trained to perform? Museum staff will apply this policy with care and respect. Should any visitor feel that the policy is not being upheld, they are encouraged to speak with the manager on duty.

Please note that Emotional Support Animals are not classified as service animals under ADA guidelines and are therefore not permitted in the Museum.

For those needing mobility assistance, motorized mobility devices are welcomed in the galleries at their slowest speed. Additionally, a limited number of manual wheelchairs are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis at the front desk.

We are committed to making the Museum accessible and enjoyable for all our visitors.

Photography and Mobile Device Use

  • Personal non-flash photography is allowed. Use of flash, tripods, or other professional equipment is prohibited.
  • Devices should be used respectfully and should not disrupt the enjoyment of other visitors.

Food, Drink, and Smoking

  • Eating and drinking are not allowed in the exhibition areas. This includes water bottles.
  • Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the Museum.

Family and Child Policies

  • Visitors aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • We welcome breastfeeding and bottle-feeding throughout our spaces. A Mothers Room is available upon request.

Items Not Allowed

  • Please do not bring large bags, backpacks, strollers (unless noted for specific exhibitions), or umbrellas into the exhibition areas. A coat check service is available.
  • Prohibited items include but are not limited to weapons, illegal substances, professional cameras, tripods, monopods, selfie sticks, and large bags or backpacks.
  • Pets are not permitted inside the Museum. Service animals are welcome in the Museum but must be on a leash and under their owner’s control at all times.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all our visitors. Enjoy your visit to CHM!
