Description
Art Zafiropoulo became Ultratech’s president in 1990 and currently serves as chairman, president and CEO of the company. In 1993, he led a management buy-out of Ultratech and subsequently launched the company’s initial public offering. Prior to joining Ultratech, Zafiropoulo served as president of the General Signal Semiconductor Equipment Group’s international operations. In 1980, he founded Drytek, a start-up dry etch company that was acquired by General Signal in 1986 and subsequently purchased by Lam Research in 1993. Zafiropoulo also served as president of Kayex, which comprised three companies: Hampco, Capco and Spitfire. He holds several U.S. and foreign patents. Zafiropoulo is a member of the SEMI board of directors and served a term as SEMI chairman in 2003.
